“The animals photographed by her in our shelter readily get adopted. Of the last two groups photographed by Nanette, 100% of healthy, adoptable dogs and cats found new homes!"

Boulder, Colorado based Shelter Me Photography offers free animal portrait services to any animal shelter, rescue or foster organization in the United States as funding allows. This not for profit organization also offers training workshops so that more people can provide great images of abandoned animals bringing more attention and initiating more adoptions.

Why take photos of shelter pets? Shelter Me Photography’s Executive Director and co-founder Nanette Martin, explains, “Because there’s a jewel in every kennel in every shelter and I know that a picture we take WILL save one of their lives!”

Shelter Me Photography dog imageAt Shelter Me Photography they know that nothing speaks to the heart of a casual, prospective adopter like discovering a great animal picture online. Over the past 8 years SMP has photographed over 9000 homeless animals, in almost one hundred shelters, in sixteen states. Feedback from rescue organizations has shown that those images have consistently contributed to increased adoption rates and helped to find forever homes for many long-term, hard-to-place shelter residents. Many times Nanette’s photos have even prevented dogs on death row from being euthanized.
